Laura A., McCombs School of Business, MPA ProgramAs a native Austinite, I knew The University of Texas at Austin was where I wanted to be. Being a detail-oriented, analytical person, I was drawn to accounting and recently graduated from the McCombs School MPA program. It’s been an amazing experience, and I’m now positioned to enter the professional accounting world. And the support of alumni and friends like you helped make it all possible.

I was fortunate enough to receive three scholarships from the McCombs School. This support relieved a lot of stress and allowed me to take advantage of the many opportunities the school has to offer. Last summer I was able to study abroad and spent five weeks in Prague, where I was introduced to international accounting practices. I was recruited on campus by Ernst and Young, and I interned this spring in their San Antonio office. This led to a full-time offer in their Houston office, which I begin this fall.

Your support can help the MPA Program grow stronger and fund priorities such as:

  • Recruiting and retaining top-notch students and faculty.
  • Supporting the Governor’s Volunteer award-winning accounting practicum course, which prepares more than 400 student volunteers for more than 20,000 hours of free tax preparation to low-income families.
  • Increasing the number of influential scholars to visit and lecture at McCombs and provide more opportunities for high-profile annual conferences to be held in our facilities.

The support I received from alumni and friends had a huge impact on me. In fact, I do not think I could have attended my final graduate year without this support. Make your gift online today and help other students enjoy the opportunities I have had.
