The College of Natural Sciences is a world leader in science and mathematics research and education. Our mission is threefold: to provide an excellent, research-oriented education in science and mathematics; to discover important new knowledge through research; and to create an intellectually and scientifically enriched environment that enhances the economic and technological development of Texas.

Discovery is at the core of all that we do. More than 400 faculty members and 10,500 students study topics ranging from the nature of subatomic particles to global warming, the tree of life, cyber security, the nature of distant galaxies, the molecular basis of alcoholism, learning and memory, molecular defense against cancer, drug development, and much more.
