The Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES) was created to provide the infrastructure and intellectual leadership for strong interdisciplinary academic and research programs in computational science and engineering, computational and applied mathematics, and information technology. Home to nine research centers and five active research groups, ICES is a leader in its field.

With the right support, ICES can become the world center for solving the global problems of our time. The University, with help from an anonymous donor, has launched the $48 million National Initiative for Simulation-Based Engineering and Science. Simulation-based engineering and science combines advances in mathematical modeling with computer performance to produce unprecedented improvements in our quality of life.

Already $36 million in gifts and matching funds has been raised, and UT Austin is seeking $12 million to complete funding.
