For nearly 70 years the Marine Science Institute has been a leader in marine research and education with an international reach. Our scientists are developing strategies to improve Texas’ coastal fish populations, diving into polar seas to examine marine vegetation, exploring the health implications of the release of toxic chemicals into coastal environments, and using discoveries from the oceans to develop new treatments for cancer and other human health concerns. Our outstanding location, facilities, and researchers provide unparalleled educational experiences, from building strong careers in science for graduate students to teaching children and adults the value of coastal environments and marine life through hands-on experiences.
