The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing is the major center of nursing education and scholarship in Texas. The school is ranked among the top 20 in the nation for its master’s program (U.S. News & World Report, 2007) and boasts a state board passing rate of more than 96 percent (2007). It is one of the top 10 nursing programs in research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the highest among nursing schools not linked to a health science center or medical school.

The school has become a leading research institute with approximately $20 million in extramural research funding and a leader in academic and clinical training, preparing students for proficient general care, advanced nursing practice, and leadership roles.
