“I want to tell donors thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my burnt orange and white heart!”
What made UT the right choice for you?
I wanted to study at Moody College of Communication because it’s one of the best in the world. I love the diversity of the programs available. To complement my education, I was able to add a minor in African American studies and a Business in Spanish certificate, and there were a lot of study-abroad opportunities available.

What made your time at UT memorable?
In high school, I was voted “most involved” in my senior class. I hit the ground running when I came to UT and held leadership positions in several organizations. Getting involved helped me find other people who share my identities; making those connections gave me academic, social and emotional support.

How did scholarships support your academic journey?
They allowed me to graduate debt-free. My success wouldn’t have been possible without donor support. I was able to do two study-abroad programs — one in Mexico, one in South Africa — and I worked on projects supporting Indigenous rights and women’s rights, coming away with a greater understanding of people and cultures. Those were incredible life-changing opportunities.

What should donors know about their gift’s impact?
Scholarship recipients become part of a donor’s legacy, and scholarships affect more than one person. Recipients add value to the University and affect many people along the way. A donor’s gift creates ripples of change.

What’s next for you?
UT has given me such a great launching pad. I’m excited about what’s next. I plan to take a gap year and then apply to law school in the fall of 2025.

Grateful
