Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Giving News

Conserving native plants and using them to address such major ecological problems as global climate change are at the core of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center’s demonstration, research, and education mission. A self-supporting research unit of The University of Texas at Austin since 2006, the Wildflower Center is nationally recognized as a leader in plant conservation and environmental sustainability. The center draws more than 100,000 visitors annually who come to learn about the beauty, horticultural value, economic advantages, and environmental benefits of native plants and sustainable design. Its award-winning architecture demonstrates the use of regionally appropriate design and materials and features an extensive rainwater collection system.
