Charles Fraser, Jr., M.D. — world-renowned pediatric heart surgeon and University of Texas at Austin alum — is back on the Forty Acres. He is at the helm of the new Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease at UT Health Austin, the clinical practice of Dell Medical School. Fraser is a professor in the department of surgery and perioperative care and pediatrics. Fraser at Dell Med, and also serves as the chief of pediatric and congenital cardiothoracic surgery at Dell Children’s Medical Center.

Dr. Clay Johnston, dean of Dell Medical School said, “Not only is Dr. Fraser one of the country’s top surgeons, he is constantly pushing the threshold for improving the systems of care. Throughout his career,​ Fraser and his team have performed more than 16,000 heart surgeries with a focus on the treatment of infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease. Before accepting the position at UT, Fraser was a surgeon in chief at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
