“My father has cancer and the COVID-19 crisis delayed his treatments. He has been unemployed due to his health situation and my mother’s job was threatened by the global pandemic. As the oldest daughter and a first-generation college student, I felt overwhelmed and desperate. So many uncertainties of how to make ends meet were closing in around me, and that’s when I was referred to the Student Emergency Fund.
Because of this help, I was able to make my rent. Because of this generosity, I have hope that things will be okay. Although times are hard and so many are experiencing so much loss, there are kind people who care and who chose to assist in alleviating some of my burdens. I am more than grateful — I am renewed.”
