Celebrating UT Icon Larry Faulkner
Larry Faulkner — beloved UT president from 1998 to 2006, former chancellor ad interim of the UT System, teacher and scholar — celebrates his 80th birthday on November 26. Help us mark this milestone and recognize his tremendous impact on the University and countless students and professors by making a gift in his honor.
A Birthday Gift for the Ages
Today we are asking you — his friends and loved ones — to show your love for Dr. Faulkner by giving to the areas across campus that mean the most to him.
To kick off the celebration, the Still Water Foundation has gifted $1 million for the School of Civic Leadership and the Blanton Museum of Art, and Peixin He and Xiaoming Chen have gifted $1 million to create an endowment in electrochemistry.
Your gift will grow these excellence funds in the area you choose.
Larry Faulkner Distinguished Professorship for the School of Civic Leadership
Invest in the School of Civic Leadership — a new school that will prepare a rising generation of civic leaders to better safeguard free societies. The newly created endowment will help the school recruit and retain world-class faculty.
Larry Faulkner Endowed Collections Excellence Fund for the Blanton Museum of Art
Invest in the Blanton Museum of Art to support its European Collection and the Suida-Manning Collection — an important collection of Old Master works Dr. Faulkner helped the museum acquire. The endowment will ensure these collections are preserved and studied for generations.
Allen J. Bard Center for Electrochemistry
Dr. Faulkner was a student, colleague and friend of Al Bard, a world-renowned professor at UT. Together they wrote the definitive textbook on electrochemistry. A new endowment in electrochemistry has been named for Dr. Bard at Dr. Faulkner’s request, and the College of Natural Sciences plans to name UT’s Center for Electrochemistry in his memory.
We are delighted to make a gift honoring Dr. Faulkner’s years of service to UT and our broader community. He is a true visionary leader who has never been afraid to boldly reach for the highest goals of excellence for the University. It is our hope these gifts will serve to carry forward his spirit of ingenuity and great care for the future of UT.
